UNBUILT
Site development involving increased parking and the expansion of academic facilities put a minor entrance into a major role as an access to the main academic and student services complex. The college requested proposals to create a more suitable entrance and develop some of the existing first floor spaces. This conceptual proposal created a new entry composed of masonry and glass that intertwined with the existing building. From ground level a transparent entrance was juxtaposed to the masonry structure that eventually emerged through the roof where it created a clerestory that illuminated an interior light shaft. The simple geometry and clean lines complemented the existing modern building while the materials and color created an accent that announced the entry to those who approached.
