POPHAM APARTMENT RENOVATIONS

Popham
New York City, NY
1979

A change to an apartment in a postwar building on West 10th Street in NYC was conceived by owner Mr. Paul Popham. He was interested in updating the kitchen and adding another bathroom to the second bedroom. The existing plan had a separate foyer leading to the kitchen directly beyond with the living on the left and bedroom wing on the right. A dining room did not exist. The creation of a dining space was a requirement by the client. A plan was developed and executed by C. Allen Mullins Architect by converting the foyer to a dining space and opening the space up to a brightly remodeled kitchen. A bathroom was carved out using the existing maid's bathroom in the kitchen and a small angled portion from the bedroom. Access was gained only from the bedroom.
