BEAR CREEK RESIDENCE

Mullins
Bear Creek, PA
1992

Prior to being purchased, a century old residence in Bear Creek, PA had undergone minor remodeling, but little upgrading had occurred. The modest residence was once home to employees of the local lumber and ice industries. A single bath was in disrepair and potable water was obtained from a surface water source. In addition to replacement and upgrading of all utilities, the home was improved with wall and attic insulation and insulated replacement sashes for the windows. The kitchen was expanded with the addition of a three story bay which also expanded the master bedroom and a new attic bedroom suite. A river stone Rumford fireplace was built creating a focal point in the living room. A powder room was added on the first floor while a new full bath was added to the bedroom suite on the third. The second floor bath was completely redone as well. New appliances, custom cabinets and new countertop upgraded the kitchen into a functional and pleasant room. Salvaged wainscoting finished the living room and dining room.
