BEAR CREEK POST OFFICE

Bear Creek Borough
Bear Creek, PA
2001

When the lease in the old general store was no longer available, the community of the Borough of Bear Creek Village took on the project of building their own post office. The alternative was stacked exposed boxes along one of the public roads in the Village. Since the Borough owned a large enough lot where the cinder shed was located. C. Allen Mullins a resident of the Village proposed the location and a simple rectangle structure. The Post Office officials were evidently very happy with the proposition and donated parts of an old post office which were installed inside the new post office. Unfortunately days after completion, the Bear Creek had a flash flood in which water swamp through the little building destroying the interior. The old postmaster station was lost and not restored.
